From February 6 to 10, three experts in the field of modern agriculture (facility agriculture) and precision irrigation from Israel were invited by Associate Professor Wang Ying from the College of Water Resources and Hydropower, the College of Agriculture and the Middle East Modern Agriculture Research Center and the Carillion International Management Institute of Israel to bring an online seminar on the theme of "Research on the Theory and Technology of Efficient Crop Production and Water-saving Irrigation" to more than 500 students and teachers of the University, based on the project of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Science and Technology.。
Mr. Du Junbo, Deputy Director of Science and Technology Department and Director of Middle East Modern Agriculture Research Center, Mr. Chen Qing, Deputy Director of International Exchange and Cooperation Department, Mr. Hu Jian, Vice President of College of Water Resources and Hydropower, Mr. Wang Qiang, Vice President of College of Agriculture and Mr. Joseph Sheffer, President of Galilee International Management Institute of Israel delivered speeches for the opening ceremony of the seminar. The seminar was hosted by Yani, Director of China Cooperation Department of Galilee International Management Institute of Israel.
In the 5-day, 20-hour online seminar, Roy Peleg, an Israeli expert in modern agriculture (facility agriculture) and precision irrigation, Nabeel Gnayem, a senior national expert in extension services of the Ministry of Agriculture, and Ezra Orlofsky, an expert in sustainable ecology, shared their knowledge in the field of modern agricultural water technology. Mr. Roy Peleg focused on the development and application of various intelligent agricultural machinery in agriculture, the principle and method of pressurized irrigation, and the creative realization of precision agriculture, with the topics of "intelligent water management, water and fertilizer integration, drip irrigation and other water-saving irrigation technologies and precision agriculture". Mr. Nabeel Gnayem focused on "greenhouse farming technology + three-dimensional cultivation" and "Israeli agronomic technology innovation, research and development, integrated pest management, grafting and shaping of renewable energy". Mr. Nabeel Gnayem introduced greenhouse climate control technology, agronomic technology R&D and innovation technology, integrated pest management and plant protection technology, grafting technology, the advantages of organic photovoltaic (OPV) application in greenhouse, the latest research progress of green apple planting technology, and the prospect of renewable energy application. Dr. Ezra Orlofsky, with the topic of "Application of treated wastewater in agriculture", briefly described the current research and application status of wastewater treatment and reuse technologies in agricultural production, guided to consider the development prospect of recycling agriculture, explored the advantages and problems of the latest research results of various agricultural reclaimed water treatment technologies, and based on the necessity of research on precision agriculture, gave a lecture on the application of renewable energy. The topic of this paper is a brief description of the current status of research and application of wastewater treatment and reuse technologies in agricultural production.
During the conference, students and faculty members had active academic discussions and interactive exchanges with the three Israeli experts, which were very fruitful. The seminar broadened the international agricultural development vision of our students and faculty, stimulated their interest and enthusiasm in exploring facility agriculture and precision agriculture, and triggered profound thoughts on the construction of modern agriculture.
