On October 25 and November 7, Prof. Shimon Rachmilevitch, a plant ecophysiologist from Ben-Gurion University and President of the Israel Society of Plant Sciences, was invited by the Middle East Modern Agriculture Research Center, the College of Water Resources and Hydropower, and the College of Agriculture to give special lectures to all students and faculty of the College of Water Resources and Hydropower, and the College of Agriculture in an online format. The lecture was broadcasted by several sister universities such as Guizhou University and Chengdu University.

In the first lecture, Prof. Shimon Rachmilevitch presented "Dryland Agriculture in a Changing Environment", guiding us to consider the new challenges and opportunities for agricultural development in dryland agriculture under the influence of abiotic stresses such as climate and environment. He pointed out that since Israel is located in a desert section with scarce water resources, it is a very significant test whether plants can develop normally and achieve high yields under such extreme climatic conditions. The second lecture, titled "The Root of the Problem - Exploring the Hidden Half (Towards a Second Green Revolution)", aimed at exploring efficient agricultural production methods to meet the needs of sustainable development of the agricultural environment through crop root development, and thus towards a second green revolution. Professor Shimon Rachmilevitch extended the concept of "crop root growth and extension" with his own practical experience and research results, and talked about the application of modern biotechnology in the field of agricultural technology.

Lecturer Introduction: Professor Shimon Rachmilevitch, Professor of Plant Ecophysiology at Ben Gurion University, Israel, and President of The Israeli Society of Plant Science. He has been involved in many national and international research projects and has served as a reviewer for Nature Communications, Plant, Cell & Environment, and other journals. He has published more than 100 scientific papers, including first and corresponding authorship in PNAS, The Plant Journal, Plant, Cell & Environment, Journal of Experimental Botany, New Phytologist and other international journals. He has published many SCI papers.
